About Henrik Halvorsen
Henrik Halvorsen
Henrik Halvorsen edits this site. The angle here is cost of ownership: what a camera charges you every month after the box is in the bin, and whether the footage belongs to you or to somebody's cloud.
What I can offer is method rather than credentials. For each camera I work out what it costs over five years once any plan is added and, where it records to a card or drive, how many days of footage that holds. That working sits on the review pages, so you can check it against your own situation instead of taking my word for it.
Every pick is checked against the room it has to work in, the power that is available at the spot, and what the listing actually commits to in writing. Specifications come from the Amazon listing on a stated date. Subscription prices come from each maker's own pricing page rather than from reviews that quote them.
How I work
I start from the place a camera has to go rather than from the camera: is there power, is there Wi-Fi, what is it meant to catch, and who will still be paying attention in two years. Then I read the listing for what the seller actually commits to in writing, and check what the maker charges for its plan.
If a number on this site is wrong, that is worth more to me than a polite email about anything else. Corrections that change a ranking get a dated line on the page they affect.
What I have not done
I have not tested these cameras in a lab, and this site makes no claim that I have. No page reports a measurement, a runtime figure or a night-vision range that we produced ourselves. Where a number appears it came from the listing or from the maker's own documentation, and it is labelled.
I am not a security professional, an electrician or a lawyer. The legal notes on this site are general information about why audio recording is treated differently from video, not advice about your situation. For anything with real stakes, ask somebody qualified in your own state.

Corrections, a specification nobody publishes, or a price that looks wrong: the contact page.
Updated October 27, 2026 by Henrik Halvorsen. Specifications were checked against the Amazon listings on that date. Prices are shown as bands because they change week to week; the listing shows today's.
