The best cameras for catching package theft
Package theft takes about eight seconds. Most of what decides whether you catch it happens before the camera starts recording.

What actually matters here
A battery camera sleeps. Something moves, a sensor wakes the camera, the radio connects, recording begins. That chain takes between one and four seconds depending on the model and the signal, and a parcel theft is often over inside eight. This is the single strongest argument for a hardwired camera at a front door.
The second thing is framing, covered in more detail on the front door page: a doorbell at standard height frequently does not include the step where the parcel is sitting. If the parcel is out of frame, the recording shows someone bending down and standing up again.
Package detection as a feature is genuinely useful and is also where the subscription line usually falls. Both Arlo products here put it behind Arlo Secure; the REOLINK doorbell lists package detection among the AI features it says need no subscription.
Be realistic about outcomes. Footage of a stranger taking a box rarely leads anywhere on its own. The practical wins are a delivery location the camera covers properly, a parcel box, and knowing quickly enough to go outside.
