Notices
The card is the one people get wrong. A security camera rewrites the same cells continuously, which is not what an ordinary microSD card is designed for, and the failure is usually silent: the camera appears to be recording and the footage is not there when you look for it. High-endurance cards cost a few dollars more and are the single cheapest piece of insurance in this category.
Mounts are the second thing people get wrong, in the opposite direction: they buy the camera and use whatever bracket came in the box. Stock brackets are designed to be cheap and to look small in product photography, and they frequently will not angle far enough down from under an eave. Offering the camera up before drilling, and buying a bracket with real travel if it will not sit right, saves a second set of holes.
Solar panels deserve more thought than their price suggests. The panel that ships with a camera is sized for the camera and usually fine, but it is attached to the camera, and the best position for a lens is rarely the best position for a panel. A separate panel on a few feet of cable lets you put the camera where it sees and the panel where the sun is, which in winter is the difference between a camera that runs and one that does not.
The surveillance signs are the cheapest item here. A visible notice is a courtesy to visitors and neighbours, and where audio recording is involved it can help show people were told; it is not a substitute for checking your own state's rule.
