Is the eufy SoloCam S340 worth it?

A dual-camera head that pans a full circle when you mount it vertically, with the HomeBase S380 in the box doing the storage. eufy's position on local storage is the reason this appears here.
The listing claims 3K with 8x zoom and clear detail to about 40 feet, and a seven-minute install. Solar keeps it running without a cable.
Two cautions. The rating rests on a small number of ratings, so it is early. And eufy had a well-publicised episode in 2023 about cloud behaviour that did not match its marketing; it is worth ten minutes of reading before you commit a camera to an interior room.

eufy's selling point has long been that footage stays local, and in late 2022 and early 2023 reporting showed that some streams were reachable through the cloud in ways the marketing did not describe. The company responded publicly and changed its wording. It is worth reading the coverage before you commit a camera to an interior room.
None of that makes the hardware bad, and the HomeBase S380 in the box is genuinely useful. It does mean the local-only claim is something to verify in current documentation rather than take as given.
