Is the Arlo Pro 2K (6th Gen) 4-Cam worth it?
Drawn for this site. Not a product photo.
Arlo makes the most finished product in this lineup and charges for it twice. The hardware is good, the app is the best here, and the listing states plainly that video history, AI detection and emergency response all require Arlo Secure.
Four 2K HDR cameras, wire-free, covering doors, yards and entry points. Smart alerts distinguish a person at the door from a vehicle in the drive, which is the thing that makes notifications bearable rather than ignorable.
Run this one through the calculator before buying, honestly. Four cameras on a whole-home plan for five years is a larger number than the hardware, and it is the clearest example on this site of a camera where the plan is the purchase.
What the four cameras do with and without the plan
Without a plan, the listing says live streaming and basic alerts work. That is enough to see who is at the gate right now and not enough to see who was there an hour ago, because 60-day history, AI detection and emergency response all need Arlo Secure after the trial.
The hardware is the strongest wire-free kit here: 2K HDR, a 160 degree view, a spotlight, 12x zoom and a battery that swaps out rather than taking the camera down to charge. The listing's AI-written event captions and keyword search are genuinely useful on four cameras, and they are plan features. Buy this if you have decided to pay for Arlo Secure; if you have not, the aosu D1 kit does the same job with storage in the box.
What it costs to keep running
The features people buy it for need Arlo Secure. Modelled as a whole-home plan at $12.99 a month, five years of fees comes to $779. Check the maker's own page for today's price; plan prices change.
