aosu: what the brand is good at
aosu is the least familiar name on this site and has the most consistent position on subscriptions: local storage in a base station, included, on every product here.
Three aosu products appear because the approach is coherent across a kit, a doorbell and a floodlight camera, and because the review counts on the doorbell and the D1 kit are substantial rather than token.
Less is known about the company's long-term support than about the big brands, which is a genuine unknown rather than a criticism. Local storage reduces how much that matters: a camera that writes to a base station in your house keeps working whatever happens to the vendor's cloud.
Practical notes. aosu's base stations come with storage included rather than sold separately, which is the single reason three of its products appear here. The retention figures quoted on the listings assume event recording, so treat four months as four months of clips rather than four months of footage.
The app and the ecosystem are less mature than the big names. Expect fewer integrations, less third-party support and a smaller community to search when something behaves oddly. In exchange you get local storage as standard at prices where the established brands are still charging monthly.
